The Rise & Fall of an Empire
Thank you for watching!
Mercedes is one of the most historic and successful motorsport franchises in history. They've been through the gauntlet in Formula 1, and in today's video I wanted to dig into the specifics of what made Mercedes so successful in the first place and what caused their downfall.
The story of Mercedes in Formula 1 begins way back in the early days of the sport, and it's had a lot of ups and downs since then. Once they purchased a majority stake in the Brawn GP team after the 2009 Formula 1 season, they would have a moderately successful few years as they finished off the V8 era. Going into the new V6 regulations in 2014, Mercedes hit the mark better than anyone else and ...

Why It’s Almost Impossible to Stop From 200 MPH in 3 Seconds
Просмотров 148 тыс.21 день назад
I've always been fascinated by the brakes in Formula 1 cars. They're able to stop from over 200 MPH in under four seconds, and when you see clips of these cars going into the braking zones it almost looks like a glitch. I wanted to learn more about how the brakes in Formula 1 cars worked, and race cars in general. What makes them different to standard brakes on road cars, and would it be possib...
Why Aren’t Formula 1 Wheels Made Out of Carbon Fiber?

Have you ever wondered why Formula 1 cars don't use carbon fiber wheels? After all, carbon fiber wheels hold loads of benefits, so why don't we see them in the pinnacle of motorsport when almost the entire car is made out of carbon fiber? Let's find out.

Thank you for watching! Today we're talking about the Red Bull RB19, one of the most dominant Formula 1 cars ever made. This video is a little longer than usual, but I think it turned out alright. We dig into the history of Honda in F1 and how they transformed from a laughing stock to the best engine on the grid, the suspension that makes the RB19 so special, their tricky DRS, the budget cap vi...
Why These F1 Engines Only Lasted 200 Miles
Просмотров 210 тыс.4 месяца назад
Thank you for watching! Today we're digging into the V10 era of Formula 1, what some call the golden age of F1. More specifically, why these engines lived such short lives. During the V10 era and before, it wasn't uncommon for the engine to be rebuilt after every session during a grand prix weekend. I wanted to learn more about why. Music by Stomp's Playlist on RUclips.
Problematic F1 Cars - 2023 Mclaren MCL60
Просмотров 17 тыс.7 месяцев назад
First of all, thank you everybody for 10,000 subscribers! You're all the best. Mclaren has had one of the craziest mid-season development curves we've ever seen in Formula 1. From 17 points in the first 7 races to 160 in the last 7 races, I wanted to dive in and try and piece together how they've done it. During pre-season testing for the 2023 season Mclaren were clearly in big trouble. Slow in...
F1 in the 80’s was WILD
Просмотров 69 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Lately I decided to go back and start watching some older F1 races from the archive. Every race is crazy. The speed, the danger, the glory. I decided to make a whole video about it. We had Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost and more in what some people call the most competitive grid in Formula 1 history. The cars were fast. Loud. Hard to control. Emotions were high. While i...

I wanted to talk about it. Music: oddfngrs - nod
How Mercedes Ended Up With The Fastest Car Ever

In the shortened 2020 Formula 1 season, Mercedes came through with what may go down as the greatest F1 car ever built, possibly the greatest race car of all time. The Mercedes W11. It would grant Lewis Hamilton his 7th world title and dominate the 2020 season. But just how Mercedes ended up with the fastest F1 car ever made is an interesting story, full of controversy, pure engineering genius a...
Just How Bad Was NYCK DE VRIES In F1?

1:09 700g, I think not, that would be the equivalent of an acceleration/deceleration of 6867ms-^2 and equivalent to a stopping time of 6.5 ms from a speed of 100MPH exerting a force on a person of mass 100kg of ~687kN, i.e. the equivalent of crashing into a tree at 100MPH. The maximum g-force during a formula 1 has been measured at 6g cornering, which translates into a centripetal acceleration of 58.86ms-^2 or a centripetal reaction on a 100kg driver of 5.9kN.

Not sure if you guys know this or not but F1 SUCKS. Passes are rare. One small bump and the car is toast and out of the race. You fart near someone and you get in trouble for bad manners. Lol. And for the past 30 years, the same guy wins every race. The fact that everyone outside America goes nuts for this boring ass sport, shows why Americans rule the world. Add the second most boring sport, SOCCER, and it's obvious non-Americans are just boring. I'd watch WNBA before F1(Verstappen has the personality of the guy making this video. 💤 Oh and F Red Bull. They are definitely cheating. How yall watch single file racing with no passing and no drama is crazy. Whoever wins the pole wins the race. And how many hours a day are F1 time trials gonna be on? Lmfao. Race against other drivers!

I started when vettel and red bull dominated. It sucked watching the psuedo renault works team squirt away within the first 2 laps and the race was done. I was glad watching mercedes dominate the new era. Pity Honda couldn't join in to compete early on the 1st 7 years 2014-2020. This red bull domination is horrid. Worse than the Vettel years. They have no competition. The Honda engine is unbeatable. Newey's aero is wizardry.

I laughed when Russell said in one week: "we know where the problem is with the lack of downforce," and then in the next week said: "we know where the problem is with the bouncing." Well, Georgey boy, the bouncing is caused by the massive downforce. So, basically, you said that you have no idea where the problem is.

Its also important to point out that Redbull is now using the “zero side pod concept” and it’s working with no issues whatsoever, yeah sure by the time im commenting this they lost 2 races, but neither of them was because of a “bad car” it was just an engine problem and a damaged floor, its crazy how Redbull got their concept right on the first try. Everyone tried to “follow redbull” in this 2024 season, you can tell by how similar the cars of other teams are with redbull last year, but they showed us something completely different thats its WORKING, realistically speaking I don’t think RBR will lose their trone until 2026, fights with Ferrari and McLaren might get close but not close enough for us to see them losing.

Mercedes simply put the Cart before the Horse. Thier chassis was nowhere near good enough for they wanted to achieve. And they dont understand ground effect, it seems.

It was Pirelli who pushed that change because the ridiculous downforce of the cars was straining the tyres considerably. And FIA acted on it because of the safery concern. Nobody really knew who will be affected by it. Many experts pointed out that Red Bull with their high rake design would suffer the most. And Red Bull themselves anticipated such affect that they started early trying to resolve the potential problems. Also considering how Mercedes won the 3 of the first four races (Lewis could have won in Imola too if it weren't for him making a mistake - and it was a very dominant recovery by the way) goes to show that effects of the floor change was marginal. The problem for Mercedes back then was they became complacent, forfeiting to developed the car and decided to focus on 2022 car, while Red Bull brought upgrades whenever they can.

Bro the FIA are very smart! They knew if they took a chunk out of the Floor it can't be fixed over 1 season!! The maFIA didn't want SLH too overtake Shumi 7WDC!! It's obvious!! MADMAX should have gotten sooo many 5sec penalties for "Driving SLH" off the track!! Especially in those last few races!! The BRAKE CHECK was very atrocious!!!!! MADMAX plan of "Intimidating" Mercedes work to perfection since SLH was really afraid to drive "RUDE" like MADMAX!!! In Adu Dubai 2021 Mercedes should have NEVER cover MADMAX in than first pit stop!! SLH should have stayed out for another 10 or so laps!! But they were afraid to put SLH behind MADMAX!!
